50.Naam Aukhad: Steps for Healing the Physical Body.

   (Simran Healing)

The devout Sikhs have all along been taking recourse to Ardass and Gurbani to bring their body back to health. A compilation of Shabads from Shri Guru Granth Sahib ji “Dukh bhanjani sahib” also exists. These Shabads build up the faith in those who recite them, in the power of Naam to heal.

The state of disease in the physical body is a result of presence in our mind of thoughts and feelings which create blocks and barrier for the power of Naam to keep body in balance and healthy. These are emotional blocks of anger, resentment, anxiety, fear, blame, victim, judgmental, insecurity, inadequacy, grief, ego etc. The reasons of disease are varied and at times the cause is difficult to pinpoint.

The state of Naam is opposite of all these. There is peace, love, contentment and above all awareness of presence of a Truth that supports the web of creation. In this world of Naam there is awareness about the transient nature of physical reality. The Gurbani call it “Maya” also called by some as grand illusion. On the one side is maya which keeps one involved in the physical world and its varied enticements. On the other side is the world of truth and actual reality. The door of this world is gradually opened up when we focus our mind inward.

Gurbani explains that the way to live in the world of maya is to live with Naam. Touch of Naam is also the way to heal the diseased body back to health. Gurbani enables one to vibrate at a level that is nearer to Naam.

The way of healing (broadly speaking) is a three step process:

Step one is to reflect for the purpose of finding a possible cause of disease. This cause is different from the one that the medical reports and the doctors state. The other cause is to be located in the mind. The mind and body are closely interlinked. These two are not separate but one. In fact we are a single bodymind while living in this physical world. Every part of our body and its shape and functioning is an expression of mind. Our mind is reflected in our body. (There is enough evidence and detailed knowledge available to corroborate this point on the Net and also in so many books .Interested person can do further research to quite any doubts.) The truth is that all our thoughts and feelings get translated into chemicals that affect the chemical composition and behaviour of the body’s cells. Both our sad and good feelings influence the cells. Growing body of medical research shows that both mind and body respond to each other.

When we look and do vichar (contemplation) on Gurbani we find that the scientific evidences being found now are already accounted for in the gurbani’s principles for living.
The cause of this mind-body disease as per Gurbani is connected with the five vikars (weaknesses of human personality) or thieves or passions or engrossments. The group of five comprises Kama (lust/addiction), Krodh (anger /rage/wrath), Lobh (greed), Moh (attachment/worldly infatuation) and Ahankar (ego/pride).

The first step towards healing through Naam Aukhad is to find the mind related cause of disease. This can be done through a quite intuitive reflection. Here are two ways through which these can be found.

First by watching the physical effects in the body of different situations, thoughts and feelings. Observe yourself. Observe what is happening in the body when there is anxiety or worry. Watch body reactions when irritated, frustrated or angry.  Look for the part of the body being affected. Where pain is being felt. Which body part muscles are tight? See what is happening to your breathing, shoulders, back, stomach, legs and other parts. And also what happens to body afterwards. All these would give a clue to the behaviour and thoughts that are causing the problem.
Second way is to recall through memory the bad situations and past events. See what feeling in the body these evoke. Ask questions.

Is there any suppressed anger. Is there a person is connected with disagreeable situation? Is some situation or thought keeps awakening fear. Are you stuck with old belief systems? What is there which you are finding disagreeable? Am I judgmental? Am I blaming other without accepting responsibility? Is there an unnecessary guilt feeling?
The answers can be found if you sit quietly and reflect .The intuition would definitely bring you the answer. Look back to the time when the symptoms of the disease begin to appear and even before. Look at what was happening in your life and your reactions.
The cause would be connected with one or the other five vikars. These vikars appear in our thoughts in subtle way and are when the behaviour is repetitive these then get reflected as disease in the body. When a possible cause is found then the next step is to let go and release the same.

For example, let us see how anger gets reflected in the physical body.
Medical evidence suggests that accumulated anger and grudges encourage formation of stones in the body. These can be said to be solidified anger. Anger would not have remained if one had forgiving attitude as well as Guruji advises.
Persisting Anger, irritation, frustration, bitterness, resentment and overly critical attitude is associated with the disease Arthritis. These people have slowly moved away from joy and appreciation. If caring, sharing, tolerance and appreciation comes back in their life then the disease would definitely stop troubling them.
Long time repressed anger is also associated with liver and digestive problems.

Changing and embracing the new is the difficult part. Well if you need the cure then you have to change.
What is needed in life are positive attitudes which Gurbani advises and asks one to bring in their life. Some of these attitudes are.
Some of the positive qualities that need to be developed are sharing, truthfulness, accountability, contentment, non-threatening or nonjudgmental behavior, fairness, trust, sacrifice, love, compassion, selfless service (Nishakaam Sevaa) , humility, friendliness, mercy, tolerance, forgiveness, mutual respect, seeking spiritual wisdom, development of faith, etc.
The spiritual guidelines of the Gurbani are meant to be applied or lived.
For healing to start one guidance of SGGSji has to be applied first which is “to forgive and to forget”.

The healing of disease in the body would start when forgiveness removes the blocks caused by stored anger, resentment, bitterness, irritation, grievance, shame, or pain. It must be understood that forgiveness isn’t about condoning an action that caused pain for us or others but is an act that releases the impact of that event on us. This release has to occur by forgiving others including self while doing Ardas in step two below. This process is thus very important for healing process.
This release makes way and opens up space for Naam.

Second important step is to seek good positive quality and attitude. Positive attitude has a higher vibration. From the level of a positive vibration it is easy to shift towards state of Naam where one feels the presence of Karta. So seek the positive attitudes advised in Gurbani. These have to be sought during Ardas and then brought into practice in life.

Step two is Ardaas. Ardaas (prayer) is the Guru’s specified way connecting with the creator. Ardaas also enables us to present our issues and problems to the Karta (creator). In Ardaas we seek Naam so that the issues and problems get resolved.
The disease is persisting in the bodymind because of continued state of unforgiveness.

In the state of Ardaas we seek forgiveness and forgive others. We assert our state of oneness so as to align with Naam. We seek peace so as to be in state of connectedness with naam.

Through Ardas we communicate with the divine. In Ardas one asks for pardon of mistakes, fulfillment of objectives, company of likeminded souls, and prosperity of all the persons.
Do a Short personal Ardas. (A full panthic ardas can also be done). The precursor to Ardas comprise recitation of lines from gurbani. So the first part is to recite Gurbani lines and surrender to the Guru. Know that Waheguru (God) is ever with you and is in everything. Everything is happening perfectly and in love as per HIS Hukam (command).

Some Gurbani Shabads or pungtees to recite are.

Meaning of Ardas:

Contemplate on the Primal Power of the Almighty ,the creator. Then while calling to mind the Guru’s remember that it is through them the Shabad Guru expressed .They emphasized that the Karta watches over us, seeing HIM (in the flow of creation) all our sufferings shall depart. By remembering HIM the nine treasures shall hasten to your (inner spiritual) home. HE protect and help us everywhere. And that the very contemplation of Gurbani from the Living Guru, the Word of God, the Truth of Truths Siri Guru Granth Sahibji , would bring forth a state that we say in awe and wonder Waheguru ,Waheguru ,Waheguru … as we experience the truth.
In Ardas is sought association of those whose company (sangat) helps in remembering the Naam and seek good for all.

Step three is to bring forth the flow of State nearer to Naam through Gurbani. Gurbani is a doorway to Naam. Gurbani induces the state of mind that touches Naam. This is done through recitation of Gurbani in such a way that the vibrational level of Gurbani changes our state of mind so that there is flow of Naam.
Here are some suggestions for coming nearer to Naam for healing with Gurbani.

Ø  To experience touch of Naam within listen to Gurbani kirtan of Shabads. Get involved. One gets involved along when while listening open a Pothi , or an application on Ipad or Android Phone . Read along the Gurbani, dwell on its meaning. FEEL and make Gurbani a part of you. Get involved knowing well the Shabad is meant for you and is happening to you.
Ø  Repeat any Gurbani pungtee (line) during the day which clicks and the mind likes. Repeat, Repeat, Repeat ... this is Jap. Reputation has to be with feeling so as to become Simran.
Ø  Repeatedly Read and Listen to Gurbani Shabads. Read Vichar on Shabads.
Ø  Do Waheguru Simran. Feel the jyote within and about.

Some Shabads from Gurbani are listed below.

1)  Shabads lines to develop and keep FAITH.

Do Simran of these. Keep singing one or more of these repeatedly. These are indicative other Shabads can be also repeated.

2) Waheguru Simran

Waheguru Simran meditation should also be done for Naamaukhad. Amrit vela (ambrosial hours in the early morning) is ideal for the Simran although when it can be done undisturbed as the worldly activities are standstill in the outside world. Otherwise it can be done any time.
Some tips are as below:

- The Waheguru Jap being done mentally has also to be listened to. This pulls and keeps the awareness within.
- The physical body has to be relaxed so that it does not create disturbances. This activity also keeps awareness within. For relaxing the body the method used by hypnotherapists is quite useful. They use mind triggers for achieving this. The trigger here is the suggestion to the body part to relax and then feel it relaxing.
Start by placing the awareness (surt) in the head. Be aware of the scalp and tell it to relax and then feel it relaxing. Feel the stress leaving the body part. Then shift awareness to forehead. Repeat the above suggestion and then feeling the relaxation and release of any stress. Repeat this process one by one next with nose, mouth , chin , cheeks , ears , whole head , neck , right shoulder , right arm , right hand , then left shoulder , left arm , left hand . Then shift awareness to chest, organs within chest (name them) and ask them to relax, then back, lower back, abdomen, this and legs. Do the same with all body parts.

- After this body relaxation do short Waheguru Simran and be aware that all the body parts are working as per Hukam of the Karta in harmony and perfection. Waheguruji has made a beautiful perfect human body as a dwelling place of the soul. This soul has a personality with a self-identity (haume). As per Gurmat we are just self identities with personalities. The body is also a part of physical world created by Wheguruji with naam as support. The jyote within the body observes and knows. The jyote is part of the supreme jyote. This awareness of our body is a Simran to be done as many times as possible. At least two times a day. During this Simran meditation be aware that jyote is present in all parts of the body and in each cell. The whole play is as per structure created by Waheguruji. Know that with naam this harmony is restored .The change in body was brought due to our mind’s negative thoughts, feelings and our behaviour.

3 ) Hukam Razai Chalna

Naam blossoms when the thoughts in the mind are positive and so also the feelings. So along with listening to the Gurbani Shabads another step is commitment towards the Gurmat principles. These must be followed and lived, unceasingly, every single day. This is the Simran meditation of the Shabad. Step by step the thoughts and feelings are mastered, and Naam would enter your life.
Your whole future life relies on your action now - whether it is health or circumstances in life.

One main Gurmat principle is “Hukam Razai Chalna” meaning to walk the path of seeing flow of Hukam (command) of creator (karta) in creation and to be in the state of Raza (positive acceptance). This has been stated by Guruji in the beginning of Japji Sahib in answer to the most common and most important spiritual question – how to become sachiara (pure) and how the veil of illusion (false in the material world).

Kiv Sachiaaraa Hoeeai Kiv Koorrai Thuttai Paal ||
Hukam Rajaaee Chalanaa Naanak Likhiaa Naal ||1||

So how can one become truthful? And how can the veil of illusion be torn away? Says Nanak, walk in the way of Hukam and Raza. This would get written as your destiny.
sggs 1

It is important to understand Hukam and Raza.
Hukam is the command of the karta (creator), the underlying laws that make for the world as it is and keeps it moving. Whatever we see is as per Hukam. All interplay of matter is as per hukam. Our body and its working is as per hukam. There is preciseness and ever accuracy in creation. Law of Karma is also a hukam.
As Naam is the support of the creation so Hukam is thus associated with Naam.

Raza is a mind state of acceptance and neutrality. Normally in the behaviour there is resistance and anger towards circumstances. There is judgment and criticism in our behaviour. Raza is a neutral state where the situation or circumstance or person (s) are accepted as such. This acceptance is as such despite the position of whether we agree or do not agree. In the state of acceptance there is peace.

In ‘hukam razai’ we see the hukam in all situations. We see the Hukami (the creator) through observing the Hukam’s so there is love in our acceptance. This is a form of Simran. This Simran is a way towards becoming Sachiar (pure). Here mind has changed. Here the five passions do not trouble. In this state there is love and peace. There is acceptance.

The problem of ill health and body’s disease is a reflection of impure state of mind due to presence of behaviour effect of Kama (lust/addiction), Krodh (anger /rage/wrath), Lobh (greed), Moh (attachment/worldly infatuation) and Ahankar (ego/pride).  Apart from these there is Haume (self-identity).

The tools that bring the change away from such a state is forgiveness, tolerance, patience which are to be made a part of behaviour while doing Simran .

This simran for healing can be done by following steps given below:

-      Chose a time when you would be undisturbed. Recite a few shabads.

-      Next close your eyes and become antermukh i.e mind is inward.Be quiet and do Waheguru Simran or Mool Manter Simran to keep the minds focus within.

-      Think of the disease or illness. Now accept the fact that your body is experiencing this illness. This experience is a result of you’re your own actions and purpose is to correct you. This Dukh(trouble) is Daru( Drug) and is there to correct your thought and behavior. Naam Simran would bring right thinking and behavior. Accept that you are committed to change and so the disease would go.

-      Now visualize or imagine the picture of persons in your life one by one . The image may not be clear here. Ask forgiveness from all for any action during dealing with them. Trust your mind to tell you. Ask forgiveness from people you do not like, from enemies even and friends too. Here you may not agree with them but purpose here is that the negative effect on yourself has to go. Forgive yourself also.

This Simran gives instant result. Do and experience the start of change.

4. Practicing state of Nirbau and Nirvair.

Gurbani ever asks us to do ‘Sat Sangat’ i.e to associate with Sat (truth and purity). ‘Sat Sangat’ also changes us and restores our health.

Sat Sangat’ has two aspects. One not to associate with that which is increases impurity of mind and second to keep associating with that which adds to the minds state of purity reflected by presence of love , appreciation , helpfulness , patience , acceptance , peace , joy etc.

The Sat which is naam is Nirbau (there is no fear) and Nirvair (there is no enemity).
The quality or power of creation that creates is naam and the quality that conceals the truth or viels it is called by Gurbani as Maya.
Fear is a part of maya and so it is associated with that part of creation which is not permanent, ever changing and is an illusion. Love is associated with naam.
When we are in anxiety or fear then we are under influence of maya. When we perceive distinctness in creation as compared to oneness (Eka or one) then there are enemies. In naam there is no distinction so there are no others and so there is no vair or enmity.

The best way to associate with Nirbau and Nirvair is to keep a check on your thoughts and feelings. Do not use words which have fear resonance but used words which are associated with love, peace and joy. Know that we are influenced by the words we use and hear. In Japji Sahib guru ji has clarified the importance of Akhar (word) and how these words write our destiny. The destiny written on our forehead is by the words and sentences which are part of us in usage and beliefs.

If we keep on talking and thinking about sadness, anxiety, problem, difficulty, criticism, judgment, irritation, egoist, jealousy , frustration , lies etc. then so would these persist.
The gurbani’s way is that of Chardikalan (an uplifted way of thinking and action). Guru’s Sikh talks of hope, confidence, action, togetherness, peace, tolerance, forgiveness, sharing, contentment, acceptance, truth etc.

  • Our mind is influence by what we see, read, hear and then think about in our thoughts. Do not dwell much of negative images and news on TV. Do not go through negative and graphical accounts given in newspapers. A cursory information is sufficient if at all any information is a need. The mind gets influenced by these and so our health keeps getting a subtle poison through negative emotions in our mind.
  • Keep away from persons whose behaviour and values are bad and negative. Seek and keep company of good people. So company of people who do seva, do Gurbani vichar should always be preferred. Best of all is the Company of SGGSji and Gurbani in gurdwara and outside.
  • Keep a check on your thoughts and the words being used. Immediately change these. The words used should be positively worded. What is being said should not reflect anxiety, fear or a bad outcome. But these sentences should be restated to reflect confidence and a positive outcome.

Sat Sri Akal ji
sir I want to ask that if one seeks forgiveness for his deed from God...will he be forgiven by God even if the other person wows never to forgive you
basically ,I want to know how "prayashchit" can be done
can it occur if the other person refuses to hear ur apology...i have hurt someone with harsh words.
I realized it too late and I am at unrest since then

Gurbani does not recommend "prayashchit" . It is negative and promotes guilt.
Forgiveness is a mental act. One has to forgive the other and oneself also. There has to be a mental commitment to refrain and correct oneself.
Gurbani asks us to understand and live in oneness. We all are connected. Your mental forgiveness reaches the other person subjectively even when not done as a physical act. Do it and see the difference. It definably comes.

Seek forgiveness mentally if cannot be done in person. Also mentally forgive yourself to let go of any guilt.
Waheguruji sab janijan han teh sadd Bakshind han. The Hukam that prevails in the world is immidiate forgivness.

This action reaches the other persons mind as well.

How could one control the desire of lust, as i want to completely get rid of it?

gurmit singh said...

WJKK WJKF

Desire of lust is controlled when Naam permeates the mind -body. The soul while in this physical world is melded with the physical body and has a limited conscious awareness . Rest is subconscious. The soul-mind-body syatem is greatly affected by the five vikars(passions)and most of all lives in haume (self identity).
Naam is the sat (true, unchanging )divine part of creation that supports the creation. The Sat part of creation is reflected in positive aspects in creation. Feelings of Love , peace , joy, cooperation , helpfulness , togetherness etc lead towards oneness and are connected with sat part of creation. The other created part is impermanent . Guruji has called it Kurh . These are part of duality in the creation.
Simran is done to transform the mind. The more thoughts and feelings we have of goodness the more the mind changes its behaviour. Satsangat also affects the mind positively.
Vikars are not to be subdued forcefully but the goodness is to be practiced.Think and act good as is advised in gurbani. As in your question if you aim to give up kama (lust) then make a list of positive behaviour and feelings towards women other than ones wife. Act out this behaviour. In today's world the TV viewing , newspaper , magazines etc be best very much restricted. Bad sangat shunned. Repeat good thoughts from gurbani so that mind takes that color.
In simran one feels that the jyote within is looking through eyes and is the one that is controlling the actions of the body. While looking at othere see them as soul-bodies.

Simran and ardas gradually brings the change in mind and brings the behavior which is love and oneness based .
As the Sat dominates the mind the vikars become subservient.

wjkk wjkf, when i do gurmantr jaap for about 20- 25 mins ( or when my mind settles on the sound of "waheguru") my body reaches a state when i feel that i have no body, it's like its just my consciousness and the sound of my voice. I feel as if my soul is about to get out of my body, when this happens i stop doing simran and say wjkk wjkf as i get scared. can you please expand on what this is?

gurmit singh said...

wjkk wjkf

During simran meditation if one reaches the state where one feels that there is only consciousness often comes as an experience for some . This can result in an out of body experience. The etheric body leaves the physical body but is able to come back any time.
or
The consciousness can expand to give oneness experience.

There is no fixed experience all depends on belief. There is nothing to be afraid of.

Before doing simran recite 'Tati vaho .." and or any other protection shabads.
Recheck what beliefs about the Mool you have ? About Waheguruji?
Then do simran.
Know that the Sikh is always protected. Know that Shabad Guru is ang sang .

I have just begun Naam Simran abhyas. My mind wavers into past or future worries soon after reciting Naam for few times. I am a manmukh but I want to be a gurmukh. I have started listening to more gurbani vichar. But I still find it difficult to conquer my mind. Please guide me through, I m just a beginner

wjkk wjkf,Im a teenager and i have recently started doing naam simran early in the morning. Today when i was reading Chaupai sahib,i felt something moving on my ankle and i looked there was a spider on it, i panicked and flicked it away really hard. After doing this felt really really bad because firstly i lost my concentration on doing paath and secondly i didn't want to hurt the spider. How can i overcome this ? as this has occurred many times and i want to make my self believe that waheguru ji is with me.

It is the nature of the mind that there is constant flow of thoughts. These thoughts are linked. One fearful thought would attract and link more of the same. These thoughts don't remain in the present but gravitate towards past of future. The nature of our outside world is also such that there is rampant fear based thoughts and beliefs all around. The mann as accumulated so much dirt of vikars .Goodness is less seen but is definitely there in a smile , sharing , seva , helping , appreciating , comforting , etc.
Gurbani has power to shift the state of your mind towards all encompassing love.
Simran is the way to bring the shift.

Being a beginner here is a suggestion:
- Recite ' sunieh pauri" from japji sahib and listen to your own words. Repeat and repeat. Shift your awareness inside your mind. Listen from inside your mind. Keep awareness within the head at a place behind eyes and in between ears.

- Do simran of waheguru gurumanter and listen from within. Japji Sahib , Rehras or any other bani can be listened to in this way. let the eyes remain open.

- This way you are a bit detached and be within as well as capable of doing routine chores.

- the more you are inner connected and move further with gurbani the less mind would cause trouble and anxiety.

From what you have said it appears that something or the other is causing a distraction . Hope it is not a spider everyday !!!

Firstly don't feel bad about an instinctive reaction of flicking away the spider.
You have also said that you want to believe that waheguruji is with you.

A suggestion is to do path in the style of kirtan. Singing the gurbani. Also look at the meaning of the words. Don't be in a hurry. You may repeat and repeat the pungtees.Let the meaning be in your head. But stress should be on feeling.
In gurbani there are repeated references to the presence of Waheguruji. Through gurbani feel the presence.
Keep it up again and again. In the beginning the feeling may not the strong. But keep it up.
Gurbani connects the Sikh with waheguruji irrespective of age.

- Do jap Sahib slowly. Don't worry if Path is not finished in one sitting . Continue in next sitting.

Ardas heh ki guru mehar kare.

Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguruji ki Fateh
I have a troubled past, some conflicts with people, which happened some months back and they continue to linger in my mind. With each passing day they are penetrating deeper into my psyche, everyday I am haunted by those memories
I daily go to Gurudwara Sahib, I recite bani and do simran for 20 mins
during free time I try to do as much simran as possible. I try to do shabad vichar as much as possible. I listen to kirtan and Maskeenji's katha
I feel positive only till the time I am doing meditation..and for the rest of time I suffer remembering past events

I have read ur blog, I had forgiven everyone and myself.. I felt calm really...but again everything bounced back in my mind

sometimes I weep alone, sometimes I get agitated
as Guruji say a manmukh is trapped strongly in clutches of Maya just like a silk moth get trapped in his own silk threads...then manmukh suffers and cries helplessly . I am in that state

I understand its a Haume Rog I am suffering from. I am wailing for my lost pride amongst a group of people. I am worrying about what people think of me

I understand its all falsehood, that I m yearning for

I also understand that everything prevails under His Hukam, and everything is in his Raza
by doing so neither I m obeying his Hukam nor accepting His Raza
I feel in state of detachment with self and people... I don't feel the any joy in living
I am an ocean of negativity
as Kabeerji say 'Baba ab na baso eh gaaon'....i m not able to conquer my vikars And haume
I m a personification of a typical manmukh wailing in hands of Maya
In this condition neither can I concentrate on my studies nor there is any spiritual improvement
I have bowed infront of Guru sahib, I plead to free me from my haume, trishna, vikars
over past few months I have tried a lot, but I am still in same position
please guide me through this vicious cycle.....as I am lagging in my studies too which are of utmost importance at this point of my carrier

I have gone through your each words.
First some clarification. Haume is different from "Ahankar" which is part of vikar and often equated with ego. Haumeh is self-identity which gives us perception of individuality. The jyote swarope part of us has Haume attached with it and then the soul lives as a personality in this world .

Our thoughts are greatly influenced by Vikars . In fact these are colored by them . These thoughts and memories are linked. Bad or negative is linked with negative. Same way good or positive thoughts , feelings and memories are linked.

Gurbani explains the state of manmukh. Gurbani talks of vikars. At the same time gurbani asks us to shift towards naam. It is this shift that creates the change.
Gurbani does not ask us to think bad of ourself. Gurbani asks to to tell the mind and make it accept that we are jyote swaroope.
Houme rehat state is when we are sachiar then there is no separate identity.

DO not dwell and keep insisting on calling yourself Manmukh. If you don't see the goodness that is jyotee swaroope within you then how can you change.
We change by changing our perception. We perceive ourself as gurbani tells us.

Gurbani asks us to be humble so start thinking as a humble person and also act as one.Only this way vikar of pride would automatically go. We do not have to think , talk and discuss pride. Just become ,think and act humbly.

Gurbani asks us to talk sweetly . So just do so. Talk and act.

Thinking yourself as being miserable would keep you miserable.
Gurbani explains that what we so is what we reap. If we so bad thoughts and actions so would be the result. There is no punishment angle here. Just Hukam.
So sow good thoughts and actions to have fruit of goodness.
Highest good action is simran.
It is only in simran that we can practice goodness in action.

Simran is of Hazuri. presence of waheguruji in every thing and everywhere.
Naam is all pervading.
Waheguru is our Guru manter. So we do jap of Guru manter along with the mool manter.
satnaam is to know and feel waheguruji present every where.
Nirvair is to view others as als being jyote swaroope having a personality. This haumeh based personality is not sach swaroope but a created maya roop. This way who is a veri i.e enemy. We are then doing simran of nirvair.

Please do not feel being miserable but shift.
Seva in a gurdwara is a fine way to do simran and practice being humble.

Any good thought and feeling would attract goodness.
Memory of a bad event is if does not go then repeat forgivness again. Now add gratitude also and thanks for giving opportunity to change. appreciate the goodness in others . This would attact love towards them and the bad memory would fade away gradually.

wjkk wjkf ji, I'm really confused on whether to do mool mantar or Gurmantar. My mum said that i should start off by doing mool mantar then maharaj's kirpa this will progess and become gurmantar. which one should i do ? And is mool mantar till Gurparsaad or nanak hosi bhi sach?

gurmit singh said...

Waheguru ji Ka Khalsa
Waheguru ji ki Fateh

Let us first see what Mool Manter and Gurumanter are. The answer to this leads to answer of your second question as well.

Mool Manter describes the mool which is origin. Origin of the whole creation . Mool Manter describes the Sach (truth)-the reality . Mool Manter is how we can perceive the creator .

Guru Manter is linked with Mool Manter. Guru manter leads us towards the Mool. Gurumanter singly has no meaning. The Mool Manter gives Guru manter Direction and meaning.

When you mom says start with Mool Manter then probably her intuitive guidance is for you to link the two. This linkage is understood when we see the linkage between Jap and Simran.

Jap means to repeat. When we repeat a vichar then jap becomes simran. This vichar is gurbani only. Vichar from gurbani when repeated with Waheguru Jap leads from what a state of no-experience to a state of experience.
Hai Bhee Sach Naanak Hosee Bhee Sach ||1||

explains the timelessness nature of Sach. The creation has an unseen reality which is Sach .
Sach is timeless unchanging whereas creation is ever changing in the cycle of beginning-existence-end.Creation is possible because of presence of Sach.

Our illusion is of time. We see linearity. In Jap we are overcoming this restriction of time. Guruji's message is to do "Jap " so as to overcome this linear time obstacle .

Through gurumanter we do jap of "what is not yet a part of us " so as to lift the veil and it comes up and is part of us.

The mool is understood through gurbani and gurbani simran including Gurumanter jap leads to wards The Mool.

Now from the above we clearly see that Mool Manter is upto
Hai Bhee Sach Naanak Hosee Bhee Sach ||1||

After Gurparsad the way is also shown as to move towards sach including one important aspect which is sach and the illusion created by linearity of time.

Hope this short explanation clears the issue. To have a deeper understanding do what gurbani says. Repeatedly contemplate on this vichar . The Shabad Guru intuitively guides from within.

Vjkk vjkf, bhai Saab ji i really need help, I'm falling into kaal/Maya so badly...I'm a teenager and i am a lustful person. I wake up at Amrit vela do naam simran and 5 baaniya of nitnem. I have been trying so hard not to do any lustful action, however I have slipped many many many times, sometimes I cry and ask my self why I am keep doing this. Each time I make the lustful mistake I asked for forgiveness and made promises that I won't do it however I have failed many times. I'm so tired, weak and feel very very bad the fact that i have deceived my guru and family numerous times. How can I ask for forgiveness ? I want to get out of this Maya and be one with waheguru ji! I have deliberately been watching adult videos even though I know that it is paap, my mind slips into lustful thoughts very easily. I'm keep repeating the same mistake again and again. Bhai Saab ji, can I be forgiven because I have been doing this for many years now, I'm tired. I want to be a true gursikh. Wjkk wjkf

Betaji Don't feel such a strong guilt about this issue. It is the Haume based personality and the Physical Body ( having instincts) that keeps gravitating towards vikars. But within all of us around us is also pure Naam.

The path towards purity is one of udham ( striving). You get up at amritvela and do path is an udham.

Do vichar on gurbani also. Take hukamnama and do vichar on that daily.

Get attached to gurbani through learning about what guidance guru is giving. Know that shabad guru is within you ever ready to guide and talk.

The guru never views the Sikh in any bad light.
Guru never wishes for any punishment to the Sikh.
Guru always supports and strives that the Sikh comes out of the Maya effects .
The Sikh falls and gets up to walk again. This is udham.
Every time you fall do udham.
Seek help of the Guru.

The effect of maya is very strong these days. The five vikars are there always preying upon the mind. The anger , greed , ahankar are equivally strong and have to be overcome.
Punishing oneself is not the solution.
The mind operates in such a way that where focus is then that thing dominates. Change focus , spend time in nature , cut down on idle time. These and similar measures would help.

Gradually improve your self image.
Involve yourself in physical activity.
But donot fall into trap of considering yourself bad. Just strayed is what it is , so strive to go back to a healthy guru guided living.

Udham and again adham is the sikh way.

At the first instance I again reiterate that there is no specific shabad for any specific disease. We must understand the naamaukhad for the purpose of healing.

Healing comes through naam connection. Naam connection comes also through a relationship with Waheguruji.
Shabad " Tu Mera Pita Tu Hai Mera Mata.. " can be repeated with a feeling to develop this relationship. This relationship is such like that with father and mother. here you can freely explain the problems and issues. Then have same faith as with father that all would be taken care of life father and mother do for the child.

Gurbani should be recited with a purpose to change our attitude towards life.

Gurbani should be read to know and develop relationship with waheguruji.

Gurbani should be read repeatedly to ensure that our mind remains in an uplifted state . The feeling be of love. Love towards karta waheguruji and the creation. Love be felt and expressed towards all while reciting gurbani.

Certain gurbani shabads connect with our present state of mind. When we have such a desire then approprite Shabad comes in our life. Either through a shabad kirtan or hukamnama or any other source.

Skin problem since birth means a residual issue from prior birth. This is not a karma of punishment. Neither there is such a thing.

There is only a personality issue which soul may want to resolve . Meaning attitudinal change is required. Like not to keep resentments or to express anger or such like. inner feeling be not kept within but resolved and expressed.

Gurbani recitation is to know and for a good attitude in life mainly that of love , confidence , cooperation , togetherness. All that comes when one knows that there is oneness.

So keep reciting gurbani , any baani . Next shabad would come in your life.

Healing would come spontaneously as naam touch would come.

Is it possible to astral travel while doing naam simran? Meeting saints or going to gurdwaras?

gurmit singh said...

WJKK WJKF

Astral Travel comes easy to persons who meditate and have an intention for the same.

Naam simran has a different purpose. Naam Simran is done to be nearer to Waheguruji. To feel HIS presence. To form a relationship with waheguruji. This relationship can take any form - a father , a mother , a friend and for healing that of a Doctor ( ved). while in relationship one can talk and speak to waheguruji. one knows one is heard. the reply does come.
Naam Simran is done to fine tune surt so that anhad shabad is heard. Surt- Dhun mel is the purpose. This is also part of Naam Simran.

Why would one like to do astral travel. Yea meditative state and a desire can bring the experience. Some sikhs do have experience out of body experience.

Wjkk Wjkf, How do I keep my mind out of worldly thoughts? Because when im in those thoughts i end up listening to music, random videos doing wrong things(lust). With Waheguru ji's kirpa i do naam simran and read gurbani at amritvela including Rehraas sahib in the evening and Kirtan Sohila at night. However, as days go by my mind still thinks wrong and results in doing paap. This has been going on for many months and i feel really bad, plus i don't know how to ask for forgiveness. Bhai Sahib ji, can you please give me some advice on how to control the mind?

WJKK WJKF

Thoughts in the mind are interconnected and linked. What ever is point of focus in the mind ( be it a feeling , a memory , a written word or a visual scene) the associated thoughts keep coming.
Negative is linked with negative. Positive is linked with positive.
Another factor that affects the mind is group consciousness. Whatever is happening around us or is dominant thought around us affects us subconsciously.

Gurbani's way to control mind is focus on the positive behaviour and positive thoughts. The most positive and potent force is Naam.
So Naam simran is the way.
For this do vichar of Gurbani , read gurbani vichar books , listen to gurmat vichar so that these form a strong links in our memory.
But negative thoughts would still sneak in.
For this practice keeping mind inward and doing waheguru simran. also simran of shabad lines.
Keep the mind busy. Keep yourself busy in seva and simran. New behavour pattern have to be established .
Minimise TV viewing.

Choose words that describe positive behaviour and repeat these so as to shift focus of mind and change its state.
For e.g " I have a strong guruward personality. I think positive thoughts.I am striving to be gurmukh with positive mind control day by day."
A trick to shift focus is use of a trigger. A trigger is a device that launches the bullet. Mind trigger launches a different thought and focus.
Mind trigger is build through intention and repetitive use.

For e.g. Mind trigger can be made by intending " The moment I cross my fingers my mind becomes positive , strong willed." or

" The moment I count 1-2-3 my mind becomes strong willed. I feel good with positive thoughts"

Annoymous ( name? Should be preferred to be written. Feels better to communicate.) has asked as below :

"sir i feel that chances of sumthing, which i dont want, are more. like 70-30
please tell me how can i prevent that from happening."

When you don't want a thing to happen it means there is fear within that it may not happen.
If fear is there then the same thing would happen.
In the mind there are two seed ideas . One the feared situation and second the desired outcome.
Due to fear the first one dominates where as second one has doubt feeling attached. Doubt vibrates well with fear. So outcome would be first thought.

To overcome this remember first that there is at one time one thought in the mind . there cannot be two simultaneously.
Secondly remember that our intention is a strong force.
Thirdly remember that seed is the thought and feelings are its presence in the physical body. In gurbani Japji Sahib states : as you sow so you eat. And also in the Akhari Naam ... pauri that thought creates destiny.

So when wrong outcome thought comes in mind , intend that it is cancelled. "let this thought be cancelled" next affirm and state the desired thought. The desired outcome has to be stated and reaffirmed.
Gurbani says "jo mangeh Thakur apne the soi soi deveh. Nanak dass much the jo boleh ehan uhan sach hoveh. "
So state that with your Kirpa (grace) or bakshish this is to happen. say thanks. Believe and remain positive.
Any result has to be accepted in a positive spirit as the outcome is always as per life plan of the soul. In majority cases the outcome is positive except when desired result is negative or would disrupt the life direction or prevent some life experiences etc.

The behavior of your daughter for having stopped going to school appears to be a 'Fear in mind "situation. I am assuming that any fear factor at school has already been checked or evaluated.

Naamaukhad is cure for all sorts of diseases , problems , circumstances and issues being faced by the sikh.
Here is how this situation can be addressed.
she needs to feel secure and confident.
So while hugging her or holding her recite gurbani shabads or pungtees.

Tu Mera Pita Tu Hai Mera Mata ....
TATI VAO NA LAGAI ...
Ja Tu Mere Wal Hai ..
and similar shabads. You must feel confident and secure yourself and above all a loving feeling for Waheguruji. Your feelings would be conveyed to her. The gurbani shabads exite and bring forth these feelings which are art of ones aura then. The feelings are transmitted and felt by others as well. this is similar to the effect the Ragi singh who is deeply connected with gurbani has effect on the sangat.
Keep this up. Talk to her about brave sikhs ansd sighnis. Tell her how waheguruji is protective. how waheguruji loves and takes care . how waheguruji is invisibly present everywhere.
Do not threaten her or bribe her. Talk to her positively.
With ardas all things are solved.

Praise her small brave acts. praise her positive behavior.
Be patient.

Wahe Guruji Ka Khalsa Wahe Guruji ki Fateh

Answer to your question is not simple and straight forward.Gurbani is not a medical system in conventional sense but provides Healing for the Physical body. First basics have to be known :

1 We are Soul which is Jyote Swaroope with Haume (self Identity) with Mind and living the material world existence as a personality in the Physical Body.
2. While in physical body our haume identifies us with body and the worldly affairs. Our choices and beliefs and behaviour is such that we live as a physical world personality forgetting our real origin.
3. World is a creation of waheguruji and Naam is the first or base of creation. It can be said that fron sunn has come Naam and all creation.
4.The creation has two aspects. One permanent which is Satt and the other impermanent, a duality and fear based. waheguruji is Nirbhau. There is oneness so waheguruji is Nirvair.
5. Gurbani lets us get connected with Naam.
6. The disease of the body comes about by being associated with fear. We get swayed by the five thieves. We get swayed by association with negativity.
7. With Naam connection we get detached from fear and are in peace .

ways for Naam connection is through Gurbanni. So while going path bet connected with gurbani words. Feel and imbibe gurbani's understandings. The gurbani shifts our thoughts and feelings.
Gurbani also teches the true way of ardas. Go inward. Talk to waheguruji as to a father. As to a doctor. Ask for healing.
The Hukam is ' We shift and transform to our thought and beliefs" . We connect with our origin , perfection and get healed.

" Jo mange Thakur apne teh, soi soi deveh. Nanak dass mukh teh jo boleh ehan uhan sach hoveh. "

It is the words of Das itself that create what is asked.

- there is no desire, asking, submission here. As one with Naam there is no haume in operation. We being connected with Naam heal ourself knowing that disease is just an effect of maya and not Satt. There is transformation.

Shabads are many. Searching by own self brings one closer to gurbani.Ask Guru and shabad reveals itself.

Hope this clarifies. Do not belief in the permanence of disease. Think healthy and connect with Naam.

Please help me find peace. I am not able to concieve. My fertility treatments are failing. I have had two bad miscarriages in the past and I have been trying to have a child since past 6 years.
I feel like I am being punished for something that I have done in my past.. Don't know what. I feel very disheartened and hopeless.
I am a woman and naturally I have a strong desire to nurture a child but looks like I am not going to be blessed with a child. Doctors have found no reasons for this issue. I feel lost and I find it very difficult to drag myself through chores of everyday as I am depressed because of this problem.
Please advice, what do I do. I do regular nitnem and listen to sermons my maskeen ji. When I listen to gurbani vicariously that's the only time I feel peaceful but it's short lived.

Somehow a misinformation is prevailing in our society about workings of karma. Although Karma is just cause and effect. What we sow we reap. There is no punishment aspect attached to it. If we are negative in behaviour how can result be positive , it would be negative too. If our thinking about own self is limiting then as per this law we would live in that limitation. A low self image means we live with that image.

As a way to live a good life within this law the Gurbani asks us to shift. This shift is in the way perceive the world. It is a shift of attitude. It is also a shift in our way of thinking.

There is also a misinformation that a situation is a punishment for Past life wrong action. Whereas Gurbani explains that our way of thinking has developed out of past lives. We had lived different lives and had different experiences. These personalities had an impact on our mind's working in this world. all the people are well aware how even babies have different personalities.

Why would there be a punishment because of a past life action when a life is over? Yes persons do are born with disability or face difficult circumstances or have shocking events to face in their lives. These are choices of the souls prior to birth. A soul may decide to experience a certain event or way of living so as to become better and learn a positive lesson.

Gurbani explains that Dukh ( a painful experience) is a medicine. Because of the force of this Dukh that we shift and change. We experience and learn to become better.
There are no punishments.

the understanding that gurbani give is that there is always a choice which we can exercise. The law of karma is connected with choices.
This means we can choose to think and live differently.
We also can choose to stop living in our present circumstances and live in circumstances of choice.
This choice when exercised for positive living does change our circumstances.

How to know which choices are good for us in this life ?

Gurbani explains that we surrender to Waheguruji meaning we surrender our way of thinking and beliefs and become HIS.

Coming to your circumstances -
Stop thing about any past action punishment.
Stop feeling disheartened.
Stop feeling that the situation is hopeless.

Shift to gurbani’s world of choices. For them the events and circumstances shift. This is not same as change. Change is a time line is normally happening due to various causes in the world. Whereas shift happens when we shift our thinking, our attitude, our actions and beliefs. The circumstances too shift as if we are living in a different world.
This would happen when we bring Gurbani in our daily life.

Gurbani explains: Make Mann understand that we are jyote swaroope and world acts as per HIS made Hukam. HE is the creator and not visible. SEE HIS creation’s wonderful workings and remember HIM. This is simran.

Live in RAZA.
Do vichar of Gurbani.
Do simran.
Know that HE is nirbhau meaning Fear is not a part of Sach but an aspect in creation.
So remain steadfast in face of fear. Fear tries to disturb through doubt and anxiety.
Know our every word is an ardas. HE is always aware.
Physical body is part of this world and shifts when our mind sheds fear based thoughts, thinking and belief.

Know that Ardas is a way to exercise choice effectively when fear disturbs.

Live in Raza.
Live with Gurbani.
Live in steadfast knowing that as you become more aligned with gurbani some pious soul would definitely choose to come in your life by taking birth.

This is relationship problem and have been contemplating on it as to how gurbani explains and sheds light on this. What is the way for its resolution.
On the face of it appears that problem is with the Husband alone. But are we not experiencing our own karma. Gurbani explains “we reap what we sow.” You may need an explanation as to how.
In Japji sahib also in the “Akhri” pauri gurbani explains that “we write our destiny (bhag) with akhars which are our thoughts. It is our thinking and beliefs that shape what circumstances we have. There is a belief that husband is an ‘angry” person. But your own role is not being reflected any where. To see this you have to look in the past . Pat is with us in the shape of memories and interpretation we have given to past events. Past memories have feelings/emotions attached with them. You have to think back as to the origins of this issue right from the time of your marriage. Were there any words that have hurt the ego of the husband as a man. The women think and behave differently and do not realise that to a man being in control of life is important. How many times women direct their husbands while driving as turn here or there and be careful etc. . Whereas the husband’s manly ego is hurt. He wants to be in control of the driving and direction and not directed. This is a small instance to show differences in perception.
So go back and look critically at the memories if you are very serious about resolution. Find what hurts the husband emotionally.
Your husband may be wrong but that is his karma. Here you have to shift thought internally to shift your experience and circumstance. The situation I hope you want is that he should treat you well and the relation be good. So look at past.
In our memories you hold the past. There are many past events where the husband has shown anger. Look at what is the trigger and what words he was saying. This would be the key.
The post memories are also the seeds we still hold which continue to give us our circumstances. Reinterpret and change the past memory by being forgiving. Consider past event as a learning event – reinterpret it by replacing in your mind the words you should have said in place of wrong words said. This is changing the past. This would change the present.
As jyote swarotes we also have choices and empowered with intention. We can decide to end a circumstance and shift to new one.
Hukam aids to fulfil our choices. Know that way of gurbani is methodical and as per universal laws. No one is going to solve the problem. When we do ardas we are expressing our choices. As we commit to change our thoughts, beliefs and desire for an experience in worldly life or change or solution we have to go the past feelings of anger, guilt, sadness, resentment, victim etc . We have to be forgiving of others as well as ourself. Only the ardas which is our commitment also starts the Hukam to fulfil ‘ jo mange dakur apne the…” .
So change yourself. Forgive him and yourself. Let him be man and you be woman. Let you both be partners in life. When your thinking would change your relationship would change.

Gurbani has many aspects and out of these a few are given below :

1. Gurbani imparts wisdom for spiritual progress . The meanings understood are as per our intellectual understanding, requirement and expectation . The Shabads, pangtees come to us when we look to find them for a purpose. This purpose has to be vibrating at a higher level of goodness. For example -

- to heal a disease, to come out of Dukh by acknowledging wrong directional parts of our personality like anger, resentments, feeling a victim ,feeling lack, depressed, etc which we have been indulging in the past. We have to shift by being forgiving and embracing peace. We have to embrace state of Nirbhau and Nirvair.
Gurbani tells about Karta Purakh. We bring HIM in our life through Gurbani Shabads. HE as a Datta, Father, Mother, Protector, Guru, Friend and know about HIS ever presence. " Jin prem Kyo tin hee prabh payoo". We give love to receive love.

- to seek good living in this life. We have a purpose in this life. To fulfil the purpose whatever we require can be asked and comes in our life.

2. Gurbani Shabads Change our state of mind. We experience higher states.

3. Gurbani clears our mind and opens us for our purpose and experiences in life.

4. With Gurbani we are never alone. When our conscious mind is disturbed by worldly pressures with negative intonations. We should take Gurbani's support to make us confident and strong again.

The Shabads as per Hukam come to a sikh as needed. However some are common like

' Ja tu mere val hein..."
" Tati Vahu na lagaee ..."
" Guru mereh sand sada heh naleh ... "
' Tu merah pita, tu henh ... "

Any bani can be recited.
Shabads from rehras Sahib.
Sukhmani sahib or a random appearing choice from Guru Granth Sahib. The Hukamnama Shabads etc.

This is not a normal experience while doing Naam Simran as per Gurubani. Was your Surt ( Conscious Awareness) within while doing Simran.
Within is Nirgun. We come under Sharan. Nirgun is Nirbhau. Naam is Sach as in the Mool Mantar. We get Naam identity when Haume goes. Haume is our identity in the Sargun world and mind is conditioned by Haume. In Naam there is no presence of fear. There is protection too. Nasm identity is part of karta Purakh.

You have to explain the manner of doing Simran through email atnaamaukhad@gmail.com so that I can comment on the experience. Although leaving body is out of body experience.

As no response has come on the email Naamaukhad@gmail.com so the reply is being posted here rather than leaving it open. There is a belief that Spiritual experience/stage is not to be shared or told. The Gurbani view on this is:

Only a trader who knows value of Diamond is to be shown that. We should refrain from general talk or talking about it with people who would not appreciate.
At the same time Gurbani asks that : "Naam Japo teh Japavo" this means we are to share spiritual experience or interpretations with others who are desirous. Secondly these are to be talked or discussed with other Gursikhs if available.
Usually we find that even when one is doing seva or goes to Gurdwara or holds a post then they start lecturing.
To know actual Gursikh who is a Gurmukh then see whether He or She is Antarmukh. Gurmukh is generally quite and is ready to know as well as discuss. It is through such a Satsang that the path is known. Only hints are known. The final guidance is of the Guru through Gurbani and Guidance received within when remaining Antarmukh. This is Sharan and the first stage is Gyan Khand when the Conscious awareness hears Anhad Shabad, Hazuri and the Voice of Satguru.

Coming Back to the above question posted about an experience during Naam Jap.

We usually learn from Gurbani or from other Gurmukhs and when there is a gap then Satguru directly gives an experience to open up the awareness.

For example oneness and Hazuri. If such is not clear then light is seen everywhere in the nature to clear that all is One. There is Satt in everything.
There are out of Body experiences also with some to explain that we are more than just a body.
Some see bright light within.
Some see that the eyes are seeing within.
Some find that they share consciousness with other objects in nature.
All this are experiences to give knowledge. Gurbani asks us to do Vichar but when some thing is still not believed then some experience happens.

If we are in Sharan meaning Antarmukh and feel Hazuri then the Satguru takes care of us within as well as outside in Sargun world. We should not fear any experience then in fact absence of this fear means we are in Nirgun presence. When fear is there then we are not in Nirgun but still have haume. We are in our Mind only.

When going within we have to give up haume by giving our false identification. Jap is of Tera, Tera" , Sab Kuch Tera. Then feel that our awareness is part of Karta Purakh.
This is Sharan as per Gurbani.

The out of body attempt experience mentioned in the above post appears to be guided out of experience. A spiritual exploration or knowledge guidance.

Reading Japji Sahib is the very beginning part. Rather seeking understanding of Naam through Vichar of Japji sahib and then simran as Naam Aukhad is the way.

What you have described is an accidental damage to the eyes. Gurbani says the cause lies in our thoughts and emotions we are the cause that brings suffering or effect in life. This normally we do not accept but consider it as an external cause. here the route is an event. Naam which is Sach presence is explained in the Mool Manter and there after in Japji Saheb and Gurbani Shabads.
Naam Aukhad requires that we bring Sach presence in the Mind-Body.
First Sach is how we view the reality of creation. The hidden aspect of creation is that it is a living reality having formless presence of Karta in Nirgun. The Creation has forms and huge variety. The creation is sargun.
We can be aware of the presence of Akal Purakh by going within. Then our Surt is in Nirgun.
We can feel Sach presence of Hukam by looking at creation observing and thinking of the Hukam that is creating.
We can be aware of Sach by feeling Love in the Body with presence of Karta there too.
We can have Sach presence by changing our though vocabulary to positive words and not uttering or thinking thoughts which are negative.
We can have Sach presence by giving up attachment by considering everything including the body as belonging to the creator instead of "meri". There is no individuality and individual ownership. As "Jann", the bhagat sevak of the parbrahm we experience the world with worldly experience of living.
All this the Gurbani explains.

With Naam comes Aukhad when ask Satguru to do kirpa. The Satguru is Karta Purakh and meets us within. We feel the presence and hear the Satguru as inner voice. The Sikh is taken care of by the Satgur Purakh.

The above is indicative of the Naam Aukhad. Some Simran I have given in my posts. The Japji Sahib and Jap method is explained in my book.
You can if need me email at naamaukhad@gmail.com.

NAAM AUKHAD JAP MEDITATION FOR THE BEGINNER

Background:

The Gurbani explains that the world is a duality. The physical world around us is non-permanent so is ever changing in the cycle of moment to moment change. Our body too is changing and dies. The Sach, which is true part of creation so is Akal, eternal and does not change. The fear and all forms are created part. Our own Conscious Awareness (Surt), Love, Shabad(the Sound of creation), the Hukam that build and regulates the flow of creation is Sach. There is hidden presence of the Karta (creator, the Ekankar) in creation.

We can perceive Sach, the truth within us. Our Surt perceives the Kartar as Purakh. The Same Purakh is Satguru ( true Guru), Karta Purakh and Akal Purakh. We have to perceive the Kartar as Akal Moorat- formless presence which is eternal and exists in each and every part of creation including our Mind-Body.

Jap Meditation to Go Within where the Surt perceives Sach in Nirgun:

It is the nature of the mind the mind to think. When the thoughts of Sach, the truth are in the mind then there is Naam there. The Gurbani lines are in the nature of truth thoughts.

Keep Surt within inside your head.
Repeat " Waheguru", the Gurumantar and listen to your own words which are voiced silently within.

Feel the formless presence as "as if there" initially. As Sach is in Nirgun it reveals itself. The Jap is done with knowing that Sach is present. We are then graced the Nadar (vision) that perceives Sach.
In the Body feel the Love flowing> also feel the presence of Karta in the body.
Feel the Body being restored in heath in the Naam Sach presence.

At times it is very difficult to explain your inner truthfulness to the other party. In that case tell it to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in Ardas. And request Him to help you. Also do any one path in full faith. The situation will definitely be solved.

gurmeet singh said...

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh.

Cancer is a disease like any other. Being Sikh we should in addition to medical treatment take recourse to Naamaukhad. Naam is sach, our true identity. Naam is our true nature. Naam has been explained in Gurbani in the Mool mantar. Naam comes to reside in our mind through Gurbani. Naam is healing and is cause of causes. In Naam there is Hazuri of Akal Purakh. We know Naam when our Surt opens up to perception of Sach.

With Naam Jap we have to learn to remain antarmukh. Only then we are in Sharan of Nirbhau. Our Surt should be inside along with outside attending to worldly affairs.

There is no specific Shabad to recite. It is important that we should be attentive while listening to Gurbani Kirtan and follow what Guru is telling us. Gurbani tells about Sach and Sach only which is our nature and the true reality in creation.

Listen to Kirtan
Do Waheguru Jap
Keep Surt within.
Read Gurbani slowly contemplating the meaning.
Japji Sahib and Sukhmani Sahib should be read without thought to finishing the baani in one go. Do Sehej path of these banis with contemplation.

When our Surt is within then we are out of fear and negativity. Our physical body then begins to be in sync with our Mind thoughts.

Feel the presence of Karta Purakh in each part and cell of the body. The Hukam creates all forms. The Shabad resides everywhere. Feeling the Karta Purakh is done as Jap. This is Hazuri. Continue Jap of Gurumantar Waheguru and Gurbani lines. Where Naam is there then there is harmony and peace. Healing occurs.
